Questions To Ask Your Newborn Photographer

Choosing your newborn photographer is very important and not something you want to rush into, most photographers have different styles and price points. You want to choose wisely as these images will soon become treasured memories.  You should start to look for your photographer early on in your pregnancy and be looking to hire by your third trimester.

Below are a list of important questions you should be looking to ask any potential photographer.

DO YOU HAVE NEWBORN SAFETY TRAINING?
Your newborn will most likely be photographed within the first 16 days of life, they are fragile and need careful handling. Your photographer should be fully trained in newborn safety and be confident handling infants. I have completed numerous training courses lead by the leading newborn photographers in the world!

IS THE STUDIO CLEANED AFTER EACH SESSION?
Due to the immature immune system of newborns it is imperative that the studio is cleaned after each session. My studio is cleaned thoroughly after each session, this includes washing of all fabric backdrops, wraps, bonnets and all clothing that baby has worn.

DO YOU HAVE A SESSION PREP GUIDE?
Being prepared is essential for the smooth running of the newborn session. Before your session I will provide you will a detailed guide to help you know what will happen during the session and how you can prepare.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE SESSION?
You will not need to bring anything to your newborn session (except the basics like diapers, wipes, pacifier, formula if you are not nursing) Over the years I have gained a large collection of newborn props including buckets, bowls, and wraps, clothes, hats, headbands in a large variety of colors. If you do have something of sentimental value that you would like to incorporate into a picture you are more than welcome to bring that item along.

ARE PARENTS INCLUDED?
While some parents do not want to be photographed during the session others definitely do. Parent pictures are included with both of my newborn packages.

IS YOUR BUSINESS INSURED?
Joanne McSorley Photography is fully insured and is a legal tax paying photography business!

HOW MANY NEWBORNS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
I believe a newborn photographer should do at least 1-2 newborns ever week to stay competent

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
Joanne McSorley is an ALL INCLUSIVE photography studio, this means you only pay 1 set price and will receive the photography session plus a set number of digital images. I am very transparent with my pricing and packages, no hidden costs.

You will also come across the term IN PERSON SALES (IPS) this means you will pay for your newborn session and then meet with your photographer at a later date and purchase all products, prints, and/or digital images.
