Hi, I am Joanne McSorley, a professional newborn photographer based in Medford, New Jersey. I specialize in maternity photography, newborn photography, cake smash photography, and child photography.
Photography has been a passion of mine since I was 12 when, in the days of film and darkrooms, I received my first manual camera.
Born and raised in beautiful Wales, in the United Kingdom, I took that old Olympus OM10 everywhere and photographed anything that moved - and a lot of stuff that didn't.
I studied Fashion and Advertising Photography at the UK's prestigious Cheltenham College of Higher Education, earning my degree. As soon as I graduated, I was headhunted by a daily newspaper - where I worked for 10 years, first as a staff photographer and then as a picture editor.
Looking for a challenge and variety, I left to freelance for leading picture agencies, which saw my photographs published in leading newspapers such as The Times of London, The Daily Telegraph, and The Daily Mail to name but a few.
I have had the privilege of photographing many famous personalities from royalty and statesmen to global sports stars and fashion icons. My personal highlights include HRH The Queen, Prince Charles, Nelson Mandela, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, Star Wars legend George Lucas, golfer Tiger Woods, and designer Victoria Beckham.
I was lucky enough to move to the States when I married my husband, Doug, and now we have two wonderful young children, Liam and Seren. It was only after I became a mother when I saw how fast these little people grew that I felt the desire to specialize in newborn photography. My newborn pictures remain my most treasured possession.
I want to help capture those precious moments that change all too quickly; pouty milk-stained lips, baby down on ears and back, flaky hands and feet, tiny little nails, and their serene, drifting sleep.
As moms, we can hold on tight to the memories but as the years pass, they begin to fade.
A newborn album will let you relive the touch and smell of your baby's soft skin and fuzzy hair forever.
